The attachment requirement demands that the spouses’ combined attachment to Denmark is greater than their attachment to any other country — measured against factors such as length of residence, language, education, employment, family, and cultural ties. The requirement does not apply if the resident has held Danish citizenship for at least 28 years or has lived in Denmark for an extended period (in practice, met after the integration requirements).
