Both spouses must be at least 24 years old to obtain spousal reunification in Denmark.
The 24-year rule requires both spouses or fixed cohabitants to be at least 24 years old before family reunification can be obtained under ordinary Danish rules. The rule was introduced in 2002 to counter forced marriages and sham marriages.
EU rules can sometimes set the 24-year rule aside, and there is a narrow dispensation possibility if quite exceptional circumstances apply.
